Turritella from Bordeaux, France. These guys were preserved about 15 million years ago in the Miocene epoch. The largest one is about 2.5 inches tall. They were snails and some of their relatives are still alive today. Some Turritella grew to be huge, I have seen some that are 11 inches long. I dont know if it was the same species as I have but it was amazing to see that a snail could grow to be that large!

The Shell plant in Pernis is probably one of the biggest industrial plants in The Netherlands.
This part of the plant recently had some problems and they are currently rebuilding and repairing it.
For logical reasons the security is very high and they absolutly don't like it when you are taking pics. Oh well, they can't have it all righ? I always make sure I am on a public road.
