Can someone please help???????

I am in the same boat as the author of this blog.

I went to renew my sticker last week and was denied it bacause the MTO said I owed $3000.00 to the 407 ETR. I got Anthony Pompillio on the phone and he could not answer my question as to how they got this amount of money owing on an account that I do not have because I HAVE NOT BEEN ON THE 407. I'm ballistic about this situation. When I asked Pompillio to explain and asked him three times all he did was not answer the question and use intimidation tactics on me then he hung up on me.

Meanwhile, I cannot use my car to get to work because I can't get a valid sticker. What the hell? How is it that they are give carte blanche powers to get away with something like this? This is a basic violation of people's rights in Canada.

Yes, I also went to renew my sticker and was refused due to an oustanding amount at the 407 "CreditBank" - so, when did they make the Ministry of Transportation to be a collection agency for the 407? - does the Ministry have a license properly endorsed by an authorizing governing body (OLG?)to allow them to practise this task? - has anybody checked to see how much of a pay-off to what ever judge who actually was stupid enough to allow this kind of extortion?

call them 8 times a day for whiney cheap people such as your self, for 2 years.

I am vice pres. of an energy savings corp. and willing to get my guys on this frustrating situation. for me it is not the money but principle!! someone has to actually do something. we are all guilty of putting it aside until the MTO gets involved and then larger headaches start. they say it is up to us to prove it but do not tell us how to proceed. TAKE ME TO COURT! I would love the chance to express my frustration all I want to see is my vehicles pictures on the 407. They charged my vette in january and it was put away and plates cancelled in november!

Its not the stores fault your device is faulty. Unfortunately this a problem for every cell phone carrier. Most of the telecommunication stores are franchised and dealer owned. Thus some dealers choose to push product over service. How ever you can find dealer stores that will go to the ends of the earth to earn and keep your business. At the store level if a phone is returned they cannot resell it. The phone can't be sent back. The store would lose money like crazy. The mark up in cell phones is about $5.00. that is all the profit they make in a phone.

When shopping for a phone, find a location that will take care of you all the way through your contract. Its a competitive market and the only difference between the stores, is customer service. I had a great experience at two Bellworlds, Uxbridge and Whitby. The store is owned by the same dealer. He sells customer service before a phone.

I have not used the 407 except for one time in 2001 and I paid my bill on time.  We received another bogus bill afterwards.  My husband refused to pay and ignored it.  Interest kept accruing and finally this year in March 2008, we couldn't get our plates at the Ministry until we paid it.  Reluctantly, we paid the bogus bill.  Wouldn't you know it...2 months go by and there is another bill in our mail...with interest already charged to the account.  We have avoided the 407 for years  and yet this continues.  I am willing to take this matter to court because I want them to be forced to produce the video evidence of one of my cars going onto the 407.  How many cases are out there.  It would be better if we could band together and file a class action claim.    Somebody is pocketing this money...maybe a large slush fund.  I can't believe there isn't a journalist somewhere who would want to dig a little deeper.  Thank you for the advice.  I'm going to tread through some of the bureaucracy first and then turn to only strategies if necessary.

Windsor to Ajax  i tried the 407 once. for the little shortcut it is
in 2002 never got a bill . 2yrs later got one for 153.00.i thought they must be on drugs if they think im paying.i through it away.
never heard nothing for awhile,then in 2008 got a bill for 53.00
said previous balance 28.00 for Feb 25 2007 apparently i have a twin riding around on the 407 when im not even in the country .now they sent  collections after me .talking about seizing my assets 100% interests,garnishing my wages,down here collection agency's got sued for using tactics like that.      its aganst the law in the US.these assholes are not getting a
dime from me.

well, these bastards sucked me into paying $18 000 under pressure and fear.  At the time--almost 2 years ago, I was in the middle of a court case for a serious injury from a car accident and because of the fear these bastards had me in about the amount I owed them and the interest that was accumulating every month, I settled my case for a fraction of what I should have and paid them over 18 thousand dollars!!
Now that my judgment is better, I feel sick to my stomach for having paid them.  Also,  a few months ago, I received a bill for$ 8000 .  I called the bastards. They said that the license plate on the transponder was blocked--they just tried to get more money from a vulnerable user again.  Since my accident I get nervous on regular hi-ways so I have continued to use the 407 .  I hate them.  They again sent me a bill this month for $9000 for the same bill with interest even though they knew I told them the transponder from this bill was was reported lost
 and the license plate is blocked. I would definitely join a civil lawsuit against these thieves

I live up in North Bay haven't been to Toronto in 6 years since I've moved up here, I paid all my bills in full with the ETR with a consalidated loan i got 6 years ago. 6 years later I can't get plates cause they say I never payed them that they want to see the receit from 6 years ago. WHO THE F*** �ARE THEY TO PUT A HOLD ON MY MTO ACCOUNT WITHOUT A COURT ORDER. Why don't they have to use a collection agency like every other tax paying canadian company. I live 64 km away from work and am a single father and may be without a van to get to work.�do�I�lose�all�my�right�as�a�canadian�because�i�owe�somone�money?�I�NEED�HELP�there�are�no�buses�trains�or�even�cabs�where�I�live.�I�think�taking�away�your�ability�to�drive�is�way�to�harsh�for�owing�money�to�a�toll�route
